Holistic Massage
Massage is an excellent way to relax both physically and mentally, encouraging the body back to its natural state of balance and harmony. It isn’t often that we allow time for ourselves away from the demands of our busy lives to just ‘be’. Taking time away for peace and quiet is very important for our wellbeing and can have a very restorative effect on both our minds and bodies.
Massage therapy helps to ease tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility and helps to clear lactic acid and other waste. Stiffness and soreness in the muscles may be due to poor posture, the way we are seated while working, or maybe as a result from a very energetic session at the gym! The causes however are not always physical and may be caused by emotional tension. This can result from the body becoming tense in response to stress, especially if there is no opportunity for release. This can manifest as headaches, anxiety and insomnia. Massage can produce a multitude of benefits and just a few of these include:
- Encourages improved circulation by stimulating blood flow.
- Enhances nervous system functioning.
- Reduces blood pressure.
- Boosts the function of the immune system.
- Encourages the release of those ‘feel-good’ endorphins.
- Has a positive effect on conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis and migraine headaches.
- Improves skin condition.
What happens during a treatment?
As a new client, you will be taken through a Client Consultation Questionnaire to help me to understand your health, wellbeing and lifestyle. It will also give us an opportunity to discuss any particular concerns you may be facing. No two massages are the same and your treatment will be specially tailored to suit your needs. Together we can ensure that the treatment is suited just for you. The pressure of the massage and your comfort will be monitored at all times. Your modestly will be respected at all times and only the area being worked on will be exposed. Following the treatment, a glass of water will be offered and you will be left to dress at your leisure.
Please note therapeutic massage is intended to ‘complement’ conventional medicine and should not be regarded as a substitute for medical care.
